This game is a game for speedrunners. I am not a speedrunner. There is heavy focus on routing for each level. Almost every level has a pretty cool shortcut that saves significant amount of time. Unfortunately, the game practically requires that you find this shortcut to get the Ace medals, yet the game also just hands you a feature that shows you where the shortcut is once you get through the regular path fast enough.

I wanted a game with in depth movement systems. This also is not that. Air control feels extremely flexible and unnatural: being able to adjust velocity however you like mid-air. I don't think there's any coyote time in this game. So I was constantly walking off edges because I press jump too late. I'm used to games with at least a bit of leeway in this regard.

Neon White also features a very uninspiring "story" with characters that are the most stereotypical anime trope-type characters. I think I got through about half of the levels before I stopped playing the game. Now I'm looking at my backlog and have no desire to go back to continue playing.

I will stick to White Knuckle for my movement game of choice.
